This Plaque was presented by the Mayor and people of Athens, PA in August 1996 to commemorate the Campagin of General Sullivan and Clinton into Indian Territory during the American War of Independence 1779.

In August of 1996 members of Selin's Independent Rifle Company along with those of the 3rd NY Regiment, the 64th Regiment of Foot and representatives of the Indian Department walked a portion of the route that was taken by General John Sullivan and his Army leading into Newtown, NY.

This plaque was presented to those representitives of each of these groups and we are honnored that It now resides with Selin's Independent Company for the next few years.

To those brave men that ventured into this widerness in 1779 as well as our modern day reenactors who followed in their footsteps:
WE SALUTE YOU!
